It would sure save me a lot of energy, time, and effort in my life if I were to just stop fighting these larger trends. Clearly I'm not the person to lead the way.
@dl It's hard to convince people because there's hardly anyone else there, making it hard to convince people. The only way to break that cycle is by huge amounts of power, or by being the first to market the next thing.
Unfortunately I doubt that open products that replicate an already existing platform will ever really take off for this reason.
@shinmera I wasn't expecting a wild success, honestly! I did think my barely tech-literate family members could handle clicking on one more bookmark to see pictures and updates. I was hoping that I could move just a few people over.
It was obviously too much to expect.
