I tried to get back into #Minecraft after the 1.18 update. The new terrain generation is undeniably cool. I like many of the quality of life features, but after 13 years, the core gameplay loop just cannot spark joy anymore. It doesn't help that Microsoft is slowly turning the screws on leveraging it as a Microsoft account signup driver.
I have a site at cubic.city where I was hosting domain hosting and wiki for community Minecraft servers. Not sure what to do with it now.
I promised my son I would write him a cool new #Minecraft mod of his choosing. Broke open the Forge SDK today and whew, there is a *lot* of undocumented stuff that you have to do. I didn't realize what I had signed myself up for.
It makes me seriously impressed that there are so many mods, despite a complete lack of cooperation by the game devs.
