TIL "moral injury". This is way more useful than "burnout"
`The concept of moral injury was introduced [...] as stemming from the "betrayal of 'what's right' in a high-stakes situation by someone who holds power."`

once I started playing with an x card I started wondering why more of my games didn't have one. then I realized a good chunk of my gaming friends had never heard of one.

Dear Ruby devs and game devs. I have a crazy announcement I want to share. Please boost.
Last week I released A Dark Room to the Nintendo Switch. Within the game, I also shipped a Ruby interpreter and a code editor as an Easter Egg.
*This Easter Egg effectively turns every consumer spec-ed Nintendo Switch into a Ruby Machine.*
1. Download A Dark Room from the US/EU.
2. Connect a USB keyboard and press the “~” key.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions.
Please enjoy this short, but completely insane, bit of interactive fiction: http://adamcadre.ac/if/905.html

Rose Eveleth from Wired has noticed the worrying parallels between Italian Futurism and Silicon Valley culture.
<< Let’s first take a look at the words often used to describe the Italian Futurist movement: invention, modernity, speed, industry, disruption, brash, energetic, combative. Italian Futurists were obsessed with cars and airplanes; they emphasized youth over experience; they believed that the only way to live was by pushing forward and never looking back. >>

This Barr hearing on the #MuellerReport is a lot of ceremony when we really just wanted a pdf attachment.
In order to be verified you have to be put on their list. By hand. And they explicitly don't want to bother with small instances. So, ah, yeah #keybase, f u too.
Being uninterested in the long tail of independent sites says to me that they don't really share my values on what makes federation interesting.
Jason Scott just dumped the ZIL source code for every infocom game on github. Clone it before Activision's lawyers wake up. And now we see how long it takes for the internet to produce a compiler for a language that's been dead for 30+ years from a cache of production grade source code for said language. We've had compiled z-machine files, but never the original ZIL. https://github.com/historicalsource
